BMW X5M Meets Its Match at XPEL San Antonio

This week in the shop we have this gorgeous 2016 BMW X5M, which boasts a mind blowing 567 horsepower. This is one of the coolest SUV’s that we’ve seen come in the shop lately. The owner knew the importance of protecting their pride and joy with XPEL. We didn’t stop at just our Clear bra aka Paint Protection Film, we also installed our XPEL PRIME Window film on the windows.

The owner had all the windows on this powerful family hauler tinted with our PRIME XR nano-ceramic window film, which helps keep the vehicle cool during the summer and provides cabin privacy (click for more information about PRIME Window Film). Once the window film was completed, we started wrapping this German beauty with only the best, XPEL ULTIMATE clear bra.

Installation begins on the 2016 BMW X5M

When we begin the installation process, the first step is washing the vehicle. Once the vehicle is clean, the installers begin to use a clay bar to remove any surface contaminants on the vehicles paint. Contaminants can be industrial fallout, overspray, sap, etc. Once the vehicle is smooth and clean, our installers will wipe the surface down with isopropyl alcohol to ensure that any grease, wax, slime is removed before applying the clear bra.

Now that the vehicle is fully prepped for the XPEL ULTIMATE paint protection film, the installers apply/spray XPEL Installation Gel onto the vehicle, which allows the film to float so they can align the pre-cut kits precisely before using their squeegee to lock the film in place. Once the installers have the film aligned correctly, they start squeegeeing the film into place, which bonds it to the vehicles paint.

Once the installers finish applying the clear paint protection film, they will inspect their work and make any final adjustments before sending the vehicle back to the customer. After the final quality check is complete, the film should be barely noticeable to the untrained eye. This is done by competent installers, accurate and precise pre-cut kits that allow for wrapped edges.

Always ask your installer for wrapped edges where possible, meaning that the film is wrapped over the body panel. I.e. the film would have wrapped around the edges of the hood, so there wouldn’t be visible seams to collect dirt and dust. Most vehicles allow for the film to be wrapped, although some vehicles do not.
